FAQs
Understanding your horses means asking the right questions.
What questions to ask?
We gathered the following equine related questions that greatly helped horse owners.
Why is my horse anxious / bucking?
You’ve probably checked and eliminated everything you can think of and drawn a blank. If your horse’s behaviour has changed for no apparent reason, an animal communication session might help identify what’s going on.
Do I need to be able to ride or know anything about horses?
No, this is a ground based course so no riding or prior knowledge of horses is required. The course is not about the horses but about you, the individual, the horses are merely the tool we use to each of you more about yourself.
How is the work with the horses ‘translated’ for me to use in the workplace?
We use video analysis, taking video of the horse sessions and then playing it back and discussing what we see followed by specific facilitation end exercises to teach how to use the skills learnt with the horses within the workplace environment.
Why is working with horses beneficial to me?
Horses are an excellent training aid because they serve as emotional mirrors, reflecting back to us what we have asked of them. They are quite helpful in this regard since they help us become more self-aware and teach us how to use different levels of self-expression while interacting with others. Because of their size and strength, they are also difficult to work with, which is fantastic for forcing us outside of our comfort zones. They have various personalities, just like humans do, and we couple them with participants to determine the appropriate level of difficulty, such as a quiet horse for someone who lacks confidence.
Is there anything my horse needs or wants?
Everyone asks this. We’d all do just about anything for our horses – if we just knew what it was that they wanted or needed. And before you think, ‘Well, horses will all ask for more carrots,’ – in over 1000 horse communication sessions so far, that has only happened once! Most animals don’t ask for anything at all; I think they are just happy to have been asked, and happy that someone is listening to them. By asking them the question they realise that actually, their owner cares and wants to do the best for them.
